February 3, 201313 yr Hello, i am quite confused about the turbulences from OpusFSX. Are they "fake" or are the induced by the weather generated by OpusFSX? What i mean is, besides the head-movement, is the aircraft really experiencing the turbulences? Perhaps to make it clear, i dont own OpusFSX yet, i own ASE and with ASE the aircraft "really" reacts to, for exampale down- or updrafts or cloud turbulences. For me it wouldn't make much sense to buy a new weather-engine which exclusively "shows" the weather but does not create the "causes" like the above stated turbulences. i hope someone can clarify what i can expect from this program concerning the "accuracy" of the turbulences and whether it is just "head bouncing" or real behavior of the aircraft. thank you in advance
February 3, 201313 yr Commercial Member Live Camera uses real accelerometer data to inject real life dynamic head movement, DHM. This data has been recorded on 737s and light aircraft. Our DHM effects are associated with camera views so you must configure a camera view with DHM effects and set it as either the default view, assign it with a keyboard key or joystick button, or configure it as a windowed view. When you then subsequently display the camera view in flight (by default or by pressing the assigned key/button) you will see the DHM effects.Turbulent Motion and Turbulent Bumps are intelligently linked to the weather conditions. In addition we have intelligent clear air turbulence. For turbulence on the aircraft itself select both the Bump Aircraft and Turbulence Effects options (Turbulent Motion and/or Turbulent Bump) within DHM and enable FSX turbulence (which is set via the FSX menu option - Options, Settings, Display. Select the Weather tab, there is an option for turbulence and thermal effects on the aircraft, make sure it is not disabled). To see wing flex enable 'Include Wing Flex Data' option within the Opus Weather dialog the 'Advanced Animations' option in the FSX menu option - Options, Settings, Display - Graphics tab.
April 10, 201313 yr Hello, there is a contradiction to the pmdg manuals for the 737 NGX. They recommend strongly not to activate the "poor" original FSX turbulence handling. So turbulence creating by Opus and aircraft reaction by pmdg would be the best:-) But with which setting? Thanks in advance (By the way: an awesome weather engine, thank you!)
April 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member Thanks for your comments. If you wish to see wing flex then you have to enable the 'Include Wing Flex Data' option within the Opus Weather dialog and also the 'Advanced Animations' option in the FSX menu option - Options, Settings, Display - Graphics tab. There is no need to enable turbulence handling in FSX. The FSX option for turbulence and thermal effects on the aircraft moves the ASI and VSI in turbulence but actually in the RW these instruments do not fluctuate in turbulence so I would leave FSX turbulence disabled.
