August 21, 200421 yr I downloaded the terrain SDK and am trying to build some terrain mesh, and in the instructions it tells me to go to the following site and just click on the DEM I want. When I click on the city I want, nothing comes up. Am I doing something wrong or is the site down?http://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/glis/hyper/guid...ig/index1m.htmlThanks,Costas
August 22, 200421 yr Hello Costas,That link has been included in the SDKs since F2000. Even some US government websites have been updated since then. I believe this link will get you to the same data:http://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/glis/hyper/guid...fig/states.htmlThis is 100m resolution data, covering 1-degree square areas/file. This is comparable to the 3-arcsec SRTM data which is newer, perhaps a bit more accurate, but certainly not as clean. I believe you will need to use read_dem.exe to convert it to a format the SDK can use.I have some more current links to a variety of sources of newer, mostly higher resolution, elevation data for the US. They are in a variety of formats and so will require learning a bit more about DEM data.http://www.fs-traveler.com/resources-d.shtmlRegards,Steve
