Hey Everyone! I cant seem to figure out why my computer is having such slow framrates. I just formatted my hard drive and I used the default fs2004 scenery settings. I also set my antialiasing to 4x and antistroptic to 8x. Here are my computer Specs:Windows XP Pro2.4 Ghz Processor1 gig Ram128 Meg Video Card (I think it is GeForce 5500)120 gig hard-driveSound Blaster Surround Sound Card...I am getting 6 fps when at TNCM (which is in the carribean). Why am I getting this? Is there some patch that will fix this? Also, I have my fps locked at 30.ThanksAnthony

Alarm bells start ringing when I see "128 Meg Video Card (I think it is GeForce 5500)"You should really know what your video card is, then you can make sure you have the latest drivers for it.Other than that, what motherboard chipset is it?, which type of CPU are you running?.Dan.

Umm ... You got me on the chipset thing... Lemme look in my manual .. my Motherboard is a:Via P4X400 (Model L4VXA2)And My processor isIntel Celeron Processor 2.4 ghzWhere and how do I get the chipset??

Ok, you have a VIA chipset, this chipset can be a real pain in the backside, do you have the latest 4 in 1 driver pack for the VIA chipset?.It is quite important to get the latest 4 in 1 driver pack for this chipset.Dan.

ok i will download that now ... anything else I need?

Well, you need to make sure you have the lastest correct drivers for all your hardware. Also make sure you have the latest Direct X, once you have everything up to scratch, you can then look at why your system is performing badly.Looking at your specs again I notice you have a Celeron CPU, this CPU is never going to set the world on fire with its performance, and so may require you to reduce the visual settings in FS to get reasonable performance.Dan.

couple of things that might help...lock frames at 20get the clouds fix from FSW..http://fsw.simflight.com/turn OFF AA inside fs9turn off Aircraft shadows(major FPS killer)do you have any addons likeMytrafficultimate trafficactivesky 2004Pmdg aircraftany Mesh??all these things can lower your FPSsteve

ok ... I did the 4 in 1 patch and now I am getting about 10 fps in the carribean. My graphics card is updated, so is direct x. I will do the clouds fix and turn off Aircraft Shadows.Anthony

Anthony:I am assuming that if you got her up to 10fps you have checked hardware acceleration, and that it is functional. When you were at 6 fps it sure sounds like it is not enabled.Run dxdiag and check in your directx window. Open your display (or displays if you are useing multiple monitors) and be sure each acceleration is enabled for starters. After checking everything, I would suggest you shut down all background programs not needed for FS9, set your weather options to clear skys, turn AI aircraft off, and fly over open water (Any old ocean) with a simple FS9 default aircraft. If you do not get some kind of fantastic surprising frame rate under these conditions, something is terribly wrong somewhere even with your system.Good luck:RTH

I got hardware acceleration in full mode, and now at Seattle I can get about 15 fps... That sounds good?

ok ... i did all of that but I still get 15 fps. I dont know whats going on ... My labtop which has the same hardware except for the graphics card, and it gets well in the 30s

you are getting there..6 to 15fpsreckon you can still get a bit more though:) have you turned OFF AA inside Fs9?? steve

Yes I have done that
