To "ailchim" - Re: Project AI Airline Schedules.

Hi there- When I fire up FS9 everything is working fine. Planes are contacting ground for taxi clearance and ATC is responding properly. I have sat at a good view point at my airport and watched for over an hour. My aircraft[the ones I have scheduled] land and taxi to their respective gates, as do the default aircaft. The Project AI Aircraft will all of a sudden appear at the gates[one instant the gate is empty, the next instant it has a plane at it]. Once at the gates, when their departure times arrive, they back out, contact ground, taxi and take off properly. I've tried several airports across Canada and the results are all the same, so it's not add-on scenery at my airport that's causing it.Very strange indeed. Thanks Ken

I've never seen that happen. All I can say is that I have seen PAI aircraft land and taxi properly (haven't I, scratches head). I'm sure I've never seen a plane just "appear" at a gate.I don't know which models you have a problem with. Presumably, with the airlines you mention, pretty mainstream I'd think, nothing too rare. You could try replacing the offending planes with Aardvark www.ai-aardvark.com or ARNZ AI models arnz.myhost.co.nz. Lots of people seem to think they are better looking and less demanding on framerates anyway. There is a WestJet B732 on ARNZ, Air Canada B744, B763, DC9 on Aardvark and maybe others too, didn't check all the way thru Aardvark. But I honestly don't think it's the PAI planes. Are you sure that you don't have more traffic than you have gates at the airport? If all the gates are full, I know that aircraft land but then disappear on the runway, so maybe this is the other side of the coin?i.e. an aircraft which can't be placed when you load FS becuase the gates are full being deposited suddenly when a gate becomes vacant? Are you using default or modified airports? If the default ones, try downloading AFCAD airport files with more gates.Project AFCAD can be found on the Project AI site. You can download a whole load of airports with extra gates in one go from there, although they may need a bit of fine tuning if you are fussy like me.Alternatively, try turning your traffic percentage down to reduce the number of AI flights arriving & departingI've put this topic on email alert, so post in here and let me know how you get on.

And the fix, as ailchim suggests is adding more gates and insuring that there are plenty of gates large enough (radius) to accomodate the aircraft in question. I have DLed some airport scenery packages which included AFCAD files. These sceneries and AFCADs are super accurate as far as the realworld AC types which visit the realworld airport and the numbers and sizes of the realworld gates. However PAI (or other traffic packages) may send larger planes, or more large planes, to that airport. If that is the case, then you have a problem disappearing and reappearing planes. R-
