September 8, 200421 yr Is it possible to make it so that I can have two computers side by side, one running FS, and the other somehow displaying and tracking the flight on a map? What programs will I need? I am guessing WideFS has some kind of play in this, but what can I use for flight tracking?
September 8, 200421 yr Yes - you will need Wideserver which has to be installed on both PCs.I did it using SFP(Super Flight Planner ) as the moving map -it can be used in an almost limitless selection of Map scales.SFP is free and is I believe - still Beta software - you can get it here..............http://www.cpinf.net/web/products.phpDave
September 8, 200421 yr Author You will also have to have FSUIPC along with WideFS - http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
September 8, 200421 yr Here is an easy way for VFRing with the very best maps.1. Get GPSout (free) - same source as FSUIPC (FSUIPC not needed)2. Buy from ebay a noncurrent (cheap - below $15) version of MS MapsUSA or Delorme "Street Atlas USA". Any map program that supports gps input will work. Plus you have a great map program for real world use. So it is not the current version, roads are built slowly and rivers sledom change and cities stay put.Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!
September 8, 200421 yr Hi, I use FSUIPC/WideFS as well, and expired real world aviation charts on the second machine. Depending on the chart you choose the software to display it.You can calibrate every 256 color bitmap yourself with the Map Creator II program by Sim Systems (freeware here at the library), detailed instructions are included with the software and/or are available here at the FSGarmin/FSFlightMax support forum. Complete sets of sectionals and terminal area charts for the Continental US and Alaska are avilable here (these are the ones Matt Fox converted to JPEGs and uploaded to the library):http://aviationtoolbox.org/raw_data/FAA_sectionals/currenthttp://aviationtoolbox.org/raw_data/OpenEF...nauticalCharts/Display these charts with the FSGarmin530 GPS or FSFlightMax (both freeware here at the library from "Sim Systems").
