FSX Problems - FSX.CFG?

Featured Replies

I have three problems that I cannot seem to solve:

  1. When going into SLEW mode, it defaults to Mach3, usually in the forward direction. If I hit 'Y', I can't get to the 5 key fast enough. How can I fix it so that when I enter slew mode, it turns on with the aircraft sitting still? I figure it might be in the fsx.cfg file.
  2. When I load the Cessna 172 (it might also be with other aircraft, but I haven't tried yet) and click on "Fly Now", the Failure mode is already set to "Complete Failure" with the engine. If I un-check the box and continue, no problem. But every time I start the Cessna, the engine failure box is re-checked. No matter that I save the situation - next start-up = engine failure
  3. I'm running REX Essentials w/Overdrive, and have set FSX as follows: Weather Themes button, and REX as the weather choice. Once again, on start-up the weather defaults to "User-Defined". I have to continually reset the weather to REX.

Apparently, FSX is not "remembering" any of these settings. I'm running Win 7/64, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce GTX650 w/1 Gb, and tweaking it with nVidia Inspector. Also running REX and EZCA/EZDok. Also running FSUIPC registered version. Don't know how much that means, but it seems that something in thew FSX configuration isn't being saved. Any ideas?

1. Hit the P for pause key before hitting the Y key for slew. Then you can center your controller (joystick?) before hitting the P key to un-pause. I don't recall trying to slew when using my yoke, but I wouldn't want to slew around using anything other than a joystick. If it's still too fast, use the R and minus key to slow to 1/2 or 1/4 speed. There are edits that can be made to a file to slow down the slew rate, but that is not done to the FSX.cfg file.

2.Dunno

3.Using an external program to control weather is considered "user defined" by the game, so leave it be.
