How to change aircraft name, so ATC can call corectly ?

Featured Replies

Hello, as the topic says, where is that aircaft name recognized by the ATC, I cant find it in the aircraft.cfg, for examply ATC calls an AI ATR 42, Aerospatiale 42, I use an ISDT ATR  and it calls me Experimental 42,  how can I change that ?

Install and run EditVoicePack. Then hope that ISDT is part of the Pack.

Or change the name of the plane to something that FS can recognize.

Even some skilled developers don't get this part right. I have a word document whose origin I don't remember but it tells you what needs to be written in the aircraft name section directly after the list of the various paints that you have in your aircraft.cfg file. Here's an example:

[GENERAL]
atc_type=SILENT
atc_model=A4

In this case ATC will only refer to the aircraft as an A4 (a 60/70's attack aircraft used by many navies and air forces around the world)... If you wanted them to call it a DOUGLAS A4 (though in real life they would not do so) then you would replace SILENT with the word DOUGLAS.

The thing is that it has to use the exact spelling and phrasing or it will not be recognized. For example, if you had atc_model=A-4 then it will not say anything. (or call it "experimental")

If you or anyone else wants the Word document with the list I have, send me a PM with your email address and I will send it to you. I use it all the time as often a developer will use a word that seems correct but isn't recognized by FS9...

Hope this helps
