squares above sea at night

Featured Replies

Sea and ocean look a bit strange at night. Around my plane, only flying high (above fl 200) is see strange squares. I've included a screenshot (a bit dark, but it's at night, sorry) Is it a fault in my computer or do you have these strange effects to? Suggestions?thanks, herman leusman

I have them too, but from what I understand and from what I've seen in other posts, there's really nothing can be done about it. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I think that's the nature of the beast. I've tagged this post though just in case someone has a solution. :-)billg

Just a long shot, but are you using 16 bit color? If so try 32 bit.David

I'm using 32 bit color. If we all suffer from this nightghost at sea it's remarkable that until now none has changed the default water texture. If that would be a bit darker the squares would be less visible. I don't know how to fix that, but i guess there are many of you out there who can. Or am I wrong?Herman

I'm not quite sure, but I think I remember a post by Chris Willis on this who I think said something about addon water textures above 20,000' are at least partly reponsible.

ask Chris. He's the expert. And I'm pretty sure that he'll tell what I said--"nothing you can do." I know, it sucks, but hey, there's other good stuff there.
