Have the latest WED and would like to try my hand at scenery , but thought I'd start with something "simple" -_- like modifying my local airport.

 

Questions are:

1) Can I simply make a copy of the X-Plane 10 data and work with it? If so , how do I find the airport I want?

2) I know the mesh signatures are lat/long. How can I find these numbers using Google Earth?

3) How relevant are the instructions etc. found in the various forums? ie : one set I have outlining file structures/layouts etc are for X-Plane 8 and doesn't seem to have been updated.
