Microsoft October Update - Mesh Query?

Featured Replies

The Microsoft press release mentioned that the terrain mesh will now work up to 19 meters per elevation point seperation. I thought that this was available today???? Was this an error and they meant to say 9 meters which was the resolution of the old FS2002?Just a comment on the net Autogen items. While they are quite nice, the placement of highly detailed items on top of low resolution (4.8 meters/pixel) ground textures results in an odd appearance - very nice "things" setting on top of slime! Regardless, thanks for the update and hopefully a practice that will continue.Dick Boley @KLBE

FS2002 supported 19m, not 9m, but a bug in FS2004 reduced this to 38m. The patch fixes the bug so that FS2004 now behaves like FS002.

Dick, just do a search on the forums here and you'll find lots of topics on the subject of FS2002 versus FS2004 on the mesh front. FS2002 supported 19m, but FS2004 doesn't, yet. 38m is the best that FS2004 can display currently.I think this is the only significant gain from the patch, unless there are hidden things which haven't been revealed yet. All the other issues have already been dealt with in one way or another by the community.Allcott
