September 30, 200421 yr I have a headset that I use for real flying and I wired a circuit to work with VATSIM and it works very well. I recently purchased a portable intercom system on ebay so that I could have a copilot plugged in too and we could talk back and forth. The unit has a jack to plug in a push to talk switch, which I understand, but every PTT switch I have ever seen has its own receptacle for the mike plug - not simply a switch that plugs into the intercom. Anyone who can shed some light on this? Thanks much!DavidPS - ignore the fact that I don't yet know how to have the PTT switch trigger the intercom as well as strike the hotkey for Advanced Voice Client! Sure worked better with the voice activation of Roger Wilco (although I understand why controllers hate that too)
September 30, 200421 yr Are you using the intercom and PTT switch for your VATSIM flying? Do you use a yoke? If so, just assign a button to be your PTT switch. On the CH USB yoke, on the inside and top of the yoke has a button that is in identical position as a PTT switch in the newer manufactured Cessnas.Craig
September 30, 200421 yr Craig,I will be using the intercom and PTT switch for VATSIM. I appreciate your suggestion but there are two problems with it that I can see. First, Advanced Voice Client doesn't accept button presses to transmit - only keypresses (not an insurmountable problem but certainly less convenient. Since they just released the public version today and it doesn't appear to be included, I'm not holding my breath ;-)). Also, I use SB and all my online apps on a second computer to save resources. I don't think I can use WideFS and FSUIPC to pass a buttonpress through to the other computer but I'm not completely giving up on that. I do appreciate the thought you gave this though. Thanks!David

September 30, 200421 yr I believe that is only true if the voice communications software (AVC in this case) is on the main computer. I use it on a client computer via WideFS.David
