October 6, 200421 yr Ehmmm....guess I am the only one crazy for the Caravelle.:-hmmmYou know,...To me, the FS life is so much more than FMC computerised flights or GA. :-waveFly safe, Staffan AhlbergSweden/Stockholm/ESSAPMDG MD-11 Team - Beta testerMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/3.0 Ghz512 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory128 Mb ATI Radeon 9800 ProCatalyst 4.7DirectX 9.0bW XP Home with SP1E171FPb Flat panel monitor 17"240Gb (2x120) 7200rpm HD Staffan
October 6, 200421 yr Me Too!!!:-yellow1 I've been waiting a long time for a Clarabelle ( as a former United pilot who was the father of one of mine friends used to call them) This is great news. BTW, there's a UAL Caravelle at the Air Museum at the Hartford airport if anyone is near there. Mike Monce
October 6, 200421 yr Staffan,You're right - FMCs seem to have cornered the market - there's nothing like a bit of hand flying and proper navigation like the "good old days"!!! In fact, the first jet I ever flew in in 1965 was an Air France Caravelle from Heathrow to Orly at the tender age of 11 accompanied by an Air Auntie provided by BEA - those were the days!!!Kev
October 7, 200421 yr Very intersting, it's a long time since a project caught my attention (enough to think..yeah !)Also interesting is the comments regarding FMC's. Personally I hate them, one becomes too reliant on technology instead of feeling your way. (real flyers will understand this)Personally I get more pleasure by having to pull out the charts and aerodrome books, to actually plan my flight and navigate by hand than spend donkeys years pushing buttons. (and you get away quicker)GPS is OK to cross reference, especially for fixes which your VOR's needles dont take into account. The only thing auto I use is autothrottle to my cruise height, then George will be introduced. As of yet I've not found a model that behaves on the numbers according to weight ect. If you cant wait for the Caravelle, I would suggest with absolute confidence David Maltby's new 2004 BAC 1-11's. The dynamics are superb, they behave the way I remember real ships handle. Kev...Air Aunties..love it, what an earth happened to them ? Did you have to get all poshed up for the trip, shoes polished, hair done and a full finger nail and behind the ear inspection..LOL !Ash
