October 6, 200421 yr Hi all,For those who fly this fantastic aircraft, there's a new update on the developer's website: http://tu154.avsim.ru/You get some bug fixes, an updated FDE, some new features and probably the most important new feature for those who really struggle with the Russian language..."english tooltips"!If you don't know this aircraft yet, try it out together with the english manual from Mikealpha (Michael Ackermann), it's a milestone in FS history and so badly overlooked in my opinion. I'm writing a review about it at the moment and hope more people discover this nice plane some day.RegardsDaniel
October 6, 200421 yr Hi Daniel,I had a look at the aircraft last night. It certainly seems impressive, I also started reading Michael's tutorial. I had trouble getting the joytick routines set up, The tutorial was a little unclear. Everything I did still resulted in incredible control surface flutter when I moved the elevators and aelerons in spot view.It was late last night/early this morning and I didn't get any further. I guess the aircraft just seemed a little obscure for me to want to delve so deeply into. Too much of a learning curve with so much else going on and so little time. And the panels and cryllic lettering kept reminding me of the flight deck of a Klingon warship! 8-)It certainly looks an impressive piece of work though and I admire all those who have taken the time to master it!cheersTimhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif
October 6, 200421 yr Hi Tim,I hope you don't give up on this bird, it's really an immersive experience when you begin to master this plane with all the simulated systems. Regarding your problem with the joystick axis, did you disable the joystick control in FS9? You can do that by pressing CTRL-K in game or by disabling it in the control menu. if you don't disable the joystick in FS9, your controls won't work as they should. If that doens't help, post your settings and hardware (joystick controls) you use. I'm sure we can solve your problem.Regards,Daniel
October 6, 200421 yr Hi DanielAh, no I didn't disable the joystick control, I never read that in the tutorial. That must be what was causing the flutter. I use the Saitek X36 joystick with separate throttle rudder unit. I also uuse the CH products Pro yoke and pedals but have the Saitek connected at the moment because I am beta testing a commercial Spitfire MK14 and the CH isn't realistic for that! CheersTimhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif
October 21, 200421 yr I'm also having trouble with the control system.I have disabled FS joystick control and set up the controls in the Joystick adjustment panel in the 154. However, whatever I do I cannot get any response from either Ailerons, Rudder or Elevator. I can get throttles and it will steer using nose wheel, however all other controls seem to be non existent. I've followed the instructions as best I can but no joy.Incidentally does anyone have a problem with gauges?I was getting a system hang when loading the 154 but removing gaugegauge05=154_B2_CP2!Copilot, 36,317,13,12from the panel config got the system loaded. I then got system hang when I access the engineers panel. Removinggauge78=154_B2_APU_1_3!RI, 239,483,91,91solved that problem, but I don't now seem to be able to start the APU (I have a registered version of FSPUIC.)Thanks
October 21, 200421 yr Hi,just a shoot in the blue :Look in the manual on page 9, there a little green "box" in the picture above (301). Open the cap with the right mouse button, all 3 switches up and close the cap. That "boosters" should cure your controls problem.Regarding the two gauges, check out the following thread, it's most probably a missing fssound.dll entry in your fs9.cfg :http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=185&page=Michael
October 22, 200421 yr Many thanks for the hint about the boosters. I'll try them later today. As regards the other problem I have the OLDMODULES entry with the fsssound=1 so I don't think that could be the problem. Thanks anyway.:-)
October 22, 200421 yr The two gauges you are talking about are directly related to fssound.dll. Please make sure to use the fssound.dll version that comes with the package. There are later fssound.dll versions around, but many of them have been reported problematic (generally, not related to Project Tupolev). Also make sure the entry fssound.dll=1 is correct , e.g. without blanks (AFAIK).I don't have any other idea at the moment.Michael
October 22, 200421 yr BigJim,Can you post the section of your FS9.cfg with the Oldmodules entry?Just copy and paste it here.Regards,Daniel
October 23, 200421 yr Daniel thanks for your help. The Oldmodules entry is[OLDMODULES]fssound.dll=1The Fssound.dll is dated 28/7/03. Is there a later one? If so any idea where I can get it from?Your tip about the booster switches was absolutely on the spot. Now I have control. This aircraft is certainly one of the most advanced I have seen, but I suspect that it is pushing FS9 as far - if not further - than it really wants to go. Still a lot to learn. It will help if I can get the APU running because at the moment it takes in excess of 5 minutes to start the engines using Ctrl-E. I've taken to saving a version with the engines running to save time.Again thanks for your help
October 23, 200421 yr The fssound.dll in the Tu-154 package is dated 11/11/2001. If you like, I can forward it to you, just put your Email in a private message. You can rename your actual one and then try the older one.Michael
October 23, 200421 yr I'm struggling even with getting the load manager to work, let alone attempting to fly this plane. Page 13 of Michael's manual says to use the language switch. Well, Ive intalled Russian and it appears on my taskbar but load manager only shows lots of '?' where text should be. Non of the documentation appears in Russian, just gobbldegook. If I can't get past this, what chance have I of ever flying this bird. I mean, common guys, I'm not a dimwit (IQ around 130) but this is defeating me!Alan
October 23, 200421 yr For all of you that may not have done this yet, I would just like to point out that I have updated the file Pt Tu154-B2_VC with the new version and now I enjoy a clickable virtual cockpit for this great free aircraft with the new English help tips. Many thanks to the authors of these files.!Rgds Jorge.
October 23, 200421 yr Alan, sorry, I thought in the Loadmanager screenshot in my manual it is visible where the language switch must be located. I'm aware it is a bit small, the next version will correct this.May I point you to the Russian Aviation here at avsim.com ? Many questions are already answered there:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=252&mode=fullThanksMichael
