October 9, 200421 yr Hi guys, with a myriad of add-ons and hardware I am verrry reluctant to install the patch. What I am really interested about is how easy it will be to go back in case anything gets FUBAR. Question is, how good is this backup thing working and does it make any inrevertable changes.Any ideas?Alex
October 12, 200421 yr hi. i wrote a reply somewhere else to this but am responding here also. i installed the patch and tried flying over the newly installed scenery over jfk; the frame rate dropped to 5-6fps in spot view when looking at the airport from about 700ft (with the default cessna)and climbed back up to 15-18 when panning round over the autogen stuff and when looking over to new york went down again to 10-12. i uninstalled it but may try again as maybe it needs to settle down a bit in some set-ups!
October 12, 200421 yr I installed and uninstalled the update numerous times. The update will only affect the files it adds or updates. Using the FS9UpdateUninstall.exe found in your ..Flight Simulator 9 folder is an automated process to remove the added files and return the updated files to the FS9 default. If you are so inclined, open unpatch.bak in the ..Flight Simulator 9BACKUP folder with a text editor. If you can read DOS programming, you will find the exact sequence of the uninstall of the patch. If you do an uninstall, you will find that unpatch.bak has been named unpatch.bat and FS9UpdateUninstall.exe caused the name change and started the unpatch.bat file. The only manual process for the user is to delete the BACKUP folder after the update uninstall is completed.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
October 12, 200421 yr Thx a lot for this. This will encourage me to do it and at last haev a look. Too many times I installed a "patch" and found that it produced more new problems than it fixes. I already found out that the 2.0 version of Active Camera is no longer compatible with TrackIR. However the old version will not work with the 9.1 patch and so forth...you get the picture. Alex
