Well, after a few days I decided to go ahead and take my chances with the patch. I really wanted the CTD issue to be resolved and was hoping for better frames as well. I installed the FSUIPC 3.40 (registered version), renamed the autogen file back to default.xml (that's what is was called out of the box, right?), and moved my mesh/landclass files out of FS9 for the install. I just did a test flight out KPHX (I'm most familiar with that airport and it's performace with UT). It's late, so I chose the wonderful RealAir Scout for my run. Early impressions are awesome!! Usually when taxiing at major airports, UT and default scenery cause some performance hits (dropping to ~13 FPS), but not this time. My frames stayed steady at 24.0 (locked at 25) and the stutters were very slight when ATC talked. Even the T/O was smooth! So barring any possible problems with other add-ons or whatever, I have to say I'm happy as a lark and Microsoft gets an A+ from me. One question though, I did modify the FS9.cfg file a bit when FS9 came out, as we all did. I just let the patch install with this "tweaked" .cfg file in place. Does the patch create or overwrite for a new FS9.cfg file? Or might there be some tweaks I need to remove/fix?
