I'm still learning it and have a fair way to go but it's a refreshing experience compared to all the other modern heavies that use lots of automation. I love how you have to actually fly the thing rather than put a bunch of stuff into an FMC/FMGC, press a bunch of buttons, turn a few dials and watch the plane follow a magenta or green line on the screen.

 

It can go higher speeds at cruise than most modern airliners including it's descendant the 737NG so you can push it to mach 0.9 if you want to.

 

Last night I did a flight from YSSY to YMML and hand-flew the SID (MARUB3 departure transitioning at WOL NDB) up to transition altitude before even touching the autopilot. It was an exciting experience, Now I just have to remember to reduce to ~90% N1 for climb thrust so I don't cook the engines!
