Avermedia Live Gamer HD...any good?

Featured Replies

Lately I've developed an interest in recording my flights. I got FRAPS and this works fine when capturing an instant replay (or a FS Recorder saved flight) but for recording in real time while flying the FPS hit using FRAPS is rather huge I found out and for this reason I have looked into other possible ways recording my flights in real time.

First I started looking into other capturing software like BanditCam, Dxtory etc but peoples comments were pretty spread...some claimed the FPS hit was almost zero while others said the FPS was still there even using these programs so then I found a hardware solution called Live Gamer HD by Avermedia where the FPS hit should be almost equal to zero since all processing is done by the hardware instead of putting this extra load on your CPU and GPU.

The Live Gamer HD is rather expensive though so would be great to hear if someone tried recording FSX flights using this hardware and how good it is looking both at the quality of the recordings and the performance hit in FSX.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Yes it's a great card... My only problem is it will only record on a 1920x1080 screen. I just wish it would record on any screen at that resolution... I run a 30" monitor 2560x1600.
