NOAA GRIB Data site is down

The NOAA GRIB Data site is down at the moment (for UK access and possibly other areas) so if you are experiencing a problem downloading the weather then best set the Max Cruise Altitude to 0 for the time being if you are using Adjust Options Automatically, otherwise turn the GRIB option off to use the simulated winds.

To accommodate this problem in the future, I am going to report the progress and status of the GRIB data download in the Spy window and within the Opus Lower and Upper Weather Reports. You will at least be able to see and follow the GRIB download progress from any of these places.

I am also able to detect a GRIB server connection error after the first timeout occurs, thereby aborting any attempt to download older cycle data and allowing the LWE to get on with downloading the METARs and building the weather.

The only question is what to do in this event ...

My suggestion is to re-use your last decoded GRIB data and somehow indicate the 'out of date' GRIB forecast data within all relevant reports. At least that way you will have RW forecast data to use albeit not relevant to the current time. The only other choice is to just use simulated upper winds and temperatures, this will have to be done if you do not have any decoded GRIB data on your system, data left over from the last time you flew that is.
