reducing engine noise levels

Featured Replies

I know this is kind of basic but couldn't find any "search" info. How do I reduce the engine noise level in the King Air 350.Does the same action apply to all a/c?Thanks,JimVT

I believe that if you look in the Options>Settings menu that you will find a "Sound" selection. Click on that and find a page with sliders for the various coclpit sound levels. You'll find engine listed there. R-

Thanks Ron....that does work...but it affects all a/c.I was trying to lower the engine noise JUST in the King Air.I thought it might be through the config file but couldn't find a sound section. Thanks anywayJimVT

The sound settings are stored in the sim's config file (fs9.cfg). If it is a real problem for you, you could make a different config file for the King. You would need to change the name of one of the config files while using the other. Or start FS with a *.bat which chooses the config file that you wish to use during that session. R-

Use microsoft sound recorder, and load the wav's. It has an option to lower or increase the volume. You can use the sound.cfg file to see which engine sounds to edit...Some are for the combustion, and some are "whine". Also, you have a set for exterior engine sounds. Normally, I leave them loud...As far as the volume decrease, try two clicks of decrease as a start...If still too loud, do it again, until it's what you want. If you do it this way, your cfg file will stay as is...All other sounds will stay the same volume, except for the new lowered engine files. MK
