No FS9 cfg file

Featured Replies

Hi all,When I install FS9 it does not create a .cfg anywhere on the HD. Hence, the game won't run. I've gone to $MS game page and have done all the required steps. Still, no joy.. :(Asus A7A266 MB1.4Ghz AMD ProcessorWinXP Home OS 5.11024MB DDR RAMnVidia Gforce FX 5700LE VideoDirectX 9.0cAny help would be appreciated.

By "the game won't run", what exactly is happening? Are you receiving any messages, etc...? Do you have disk 4 inserted in your CD drive?-John

"Cart before the horse", as the expression goes. The FS9.cfg is ONLY created when FS is first run, not before. If the game isn't running, the absence of the .cfg is most probably not the reason, it's the result. Allcott

CD #4 is in the tray. Full install. Click start and nothing...I tried Safe mode, nothing...It just won't fire up!

In Windows Explorer double click on FS9.EXE, and let us know what happens.David

Hi David,Same as before. CD drive spins a little, then nothing. :(

You could check the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator9.0 and you'll find an entry for CDPath and EXE Path. If either is wrong corect it. I don't think an incorrect EXE Path would stop FS9 from running but who knows. Also, Microsoft has an e-mail address for FS9 problems; I don't remember what it is but hopefully someone will read this and post it. You could also try the NO CD patch. If none of these work then I havn't got a clue as to what the problem is but don't give up, someone will figure out what to do.David

Did FS 2004 ever run on your machine? If not, there could be a problem with the copy protection on CD4 (It is known to be incompatible with certain hardware/software). E-mail Microsoft and they'll send you a replacement CD.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

Yes, It ran before I upgraded to XP and the new Video card. I'm going to "regress" back to former driver versions and see which one takes.I'm currently running Ver. 6.7.7. from nVidia's own site. I just talked to someone else having problems with 6.6 also. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
