October 31, 200421 yr Made a flight (in PMDG 739) from KSEA to KPDX arr. 28L. Intercepted ILS and captured G/S from below and had to take the landing in hand about three miles out the alignment was so off. The ND shows everything on the numbers but the a/c is lined up for center taxi way. Tried it again with the default 734...same same. Anyway to fix this?John Franklin
October 31, 200421 yr Just ran a check using AFCAD221 against my set of approach plates and airport diagrams, current as of August 2004.Runway mag heading is 280.4, ILS final approach is 279 per the pubs, AFCAD says runway is 280.3, ILS 279. So FS9 does have the settings as per published info (which are based on 12/02 data). Looks like maybe an offset approach to me. And the published minima of 400 and 1/2 for a straight in ILS (normally, 200 & 1/2 for this type of approach) would kind of indicate to me it is. FWIW, 10R ILS has a published final approach course of 101, NOT 099 like you would expect. If you want to change things, you could use AFCAD to do it. Paul
October 31, 200421 yr This is a known problem. There are a couple of AFCAD2 files in the library that should address this.
October 31, 200421 yr So why is it a problem if it matches a real world approache as published?? Paul
November 1, 200421 yr It's not the hdg that's off, the localizer is actually displaced a bit. "Show Navaids" in AFCAD and it's easy to see. Regards,Brian Doney
November 1, 200421 yr OK, thanks, I see it now. Missed it the first time.Gave the readme a quick look, not sure if just changing the location coordinates in AFCAD would solve it or not. Will need to do some more studying.Regards,Paul
