Modding newbie messed it up

Featured Replies

Ok, it's not severe, but rather annoying.I have FS2002, with two scenery packs for the south of Britain, and British Airports (south east).Lately I have been adding a few aircraft, and decided to start delving into other addons. I found something in the library here, and downloaded it. the file name is 'maxedout.zip' and has several txt files, and 'AFInstaller.exe'. The text files were airport codes (for Britain) and you opened the exe and then dragged the txt files into the program. This then installed the 'overlays' into FS2002.Now for the problem. Heathrow is now about 6 times in the list, and the other airports are appearing multiple times. Now I wanna rip these out, but I have no idea how!Does anyone know what I am talking about, and how to remove what I added here? Will be extremely grateful if you can help!

I don't remember FS2002 but, I believe, if you go to the Scenery Library it will allow you to delete those. You may have to re-add them again.

Find AFCAD140.ZIP, download, and install it, if you don't already have it installed. Start AFCAD, select this airport, and open its file. You should see the airport taxiway diagram. Right click on a blank area of the AFCAD screen, select properties. It should open a menu and show file as one of the items. Write down or remember the file name. Exit the menu, and close AFCAD.Use Windows Explorer, search drive:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002SCENEDBAFDFILESSCENERY for the file name you saw in AFCAD. There should be two with the same name, for example:usglaf02.ORIGINAL, usglaf02.bgl. Rename usglaf02.bgl file to usglaf02.MYTEST, then rename usglaf02.ORIGINAL to usglaf02.bgl. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem is correct. Of course, you will be using different scenery file names than the example. If it doesn't correct the problem, rename the files in the opposite order, *.bgl to *.ORIGINAL and *.MYTEST to *.bgl.W. Thanks, that solved the problem. Some airports seemed ok, so I left them on. Also, you pointed out the AFCAD filename, couldnt find that! Thanks again!(Please note: May be back with another fine mess I got myself into...)Had to remove a plane coz the textures didn't load for it. That was easy street!
