graphic problems since upgrading to fs9.1

Featured Replies

hello there! i've been using my ati radeon9800 pro for some 5 months now and never had any kind of problems. but now, i had to reinstall windows, fs and so on and so i decided to install microsoft's upgrad to fs9.1. but now i've some serious problems: if i move to a large airport (mostly with add-on scenery), the screen suddenly turns black. i can get into windows without a problem. anybody here who know's what this is? what could i do against it?thanx a lot!cya, peter

Hopefully, when you reinstalled Windows, you install the motherboard controller chip drivers, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, NForce. If not, install the drivers.Run the directx diagnostics, press Start, Run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the diagnostics stabilize, ensure you are using DirectX9.0b or 9.0c (preferred). Select the Display tab, ensure directdraw, direct3d, and AGP Accelerations are enabled. If any are grayed-out, reinstall updated motherboard controller chip drivers. Run the directdraw and direct3d tests and note any errors. If everything works above, open the flight simulator 9 folder and rename display.cfg to display.NEW. Open the flight simulator 9BACKUP folder and copy display.xxx.cfg. Paste the copy in the flight simulator 9 folder and rename it display.cfg. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem is corrected. If so, you can continue to use the old display.cfg file or investigate the changes made for your graphics card in the new display.cfg.You might also rename fs9.cfg to fs9.OLD, restart the flight simulator, let it stabilize, and see if the problem is corrected. If so, reset your preferences. If not, delete the new fs9.cfg and rename fs9.OLD to fs9.cfg.W. Sieffert
