November 3, 200421 yr I got FS2002 and the clouds aren't that great, (you could see through 'em in FS98 or FS2000 but not these).I need some info on thunderstorm clouds. From my photos and experience in heavies I would like recreate CB (cumulonimbus thunderstorm clouds) that are not rare in the tropics (this includes many parts of Australia) that stretch tens of thousands of feet high. This has not been recreated in FS2002.Has it been done in FS2004. Any screenshots?Anyone use that weather program Activesky? Can you get CBs for that that look awesomely real? One other tid-bit, Andrews Air Force Base in Fs2002 is poor.....anyone got any ideas how to liven it up?Use Afcad? Where can I get the AI planes from?
November 3, 200421 yr I don't have any T-Storm shots posted in recent weeks, but FS2004's T-Storm clouds are incredibly realistic even without add-ons. Lightning effects are a thousand times better than any preceding sim, as well. I've set up situations with T-Storm clouds topping out at FL500, and that's what you get.One afternoon I set up a "Front" of T-Storm cells and maxed my cloud draw distance. I flew about 60 miles west of the front and the effect was amazing....And note my system specs--a Cray is not required :)

Mt Fuji looks far better with it.Is there only 1 edition for FS2004?
November 3, 200421 yr The fs2004 are still far from being "realistic", but certainly a huge improvement over the 2d-clouds in fs2002. In fs2004 a huge thunderstorm looks like a streched cumulus cloud. Also the typical amboss as it reaches the tropopause isn't modelled or very badly. Depending on daytime fs2004 clouds can look very cartonish.my two cents,Claudio
November 4, 200421 yr I'll try to post a screenie, but it will be several more hours before I can get to it... -John
November 4, 200421 yr I posted a few shots with Flight1's 421C @ 10,000 feet along with some Cell buildup. These are low res clouds, btw....http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=170942&page=
November 4, 200421 yr Thanks John,From other screens it seems FS2004 has done more with clouds in this version too.The 3rd pic looks like a real CB!I think I'll buy it.......Thanks again
November 4, 200421 yr Hello :)Go to: http://fsw.simflight.com/Click on the download section, and you will find improved FS2002 clouds. There are different types of cumulonimbus clouds available :) Remember, FS2002's clouds are somewhat limited ;)Regarding FS2004's clouds looking cartoonish: I mentioned that on another thread, and FS2004 users started to knock FS2002 :-roll Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
November 4, 200421 yr ThanksWhat is the next flight sim in the works?I think the system displaying clouds on FS 2002 is awful, when you look to sides you see clear skies!!!!!!!!Looks like FS2004 fixed that up!
