Hi AllToday the FAA announced at Oshkosh that the actual license for US pilots is being updated from the cardboard square to a "credit card" format that is much harder to forge. It will include various graphics and the FAA seal in hologram----See the news release at WWW.FAA.govTim757

This is great n all, fine and dandy, as well as long over due, but a bunch of holograms on a plastic credit card type layout still won

They also said it will be issued us with new ratings. Well what happens if you already have all of your ratings.

We are now required to have a photo ID with us when we fly anyway. Seeing as how nearly everybody who flies has a driver's license, it makes perfect sense. We aren't burdened by getting another photo ID and taxpayers aren't burdened by the establishment of a new photo ID network around the country.
