November 8, 200421 yr Hello all :)I am surprised to see that you cannot click on the the panel- mounted clocks in FS9 airplanes to change the time http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/kao/otn/pcrying.gifI remember you could easily scroll the hours & minutes up and down in FS2000. It seems that all FS9 allows is to reset the seconds to zero and thats it :(I verified this by loading up all the default planes in FS9 that have panel-mounted clocks, the Mooney Bravo, Cessna Skyhawk etc.I ask because Im tired of always having to interrupt the simulation by having to go to the [World-->Time and Season] menu to change the time (specially by a small amount - for example when you just want dawn to break at 0653). I wanted to modify my PMDG 737 .cfg by inserting the Mooney Bravo clock. But I got shot down when I discovered you cant change the time from these clocks!Am I missing something? If not - is there a tweak out there to enable time-changing from the panel-clocks?!Thank you :)
November 9, 200421 yr Author MS made a change in FS2004 in this area. It had to do with the updating processes as one started clicking on the panel clock. MS found clicking the panel clock often confused the simulation software update generator and caused Send/Don't Send error faults.MS decided to limit the way to change the clock through the World, Time and Season menu. Effectively, the simulation is halted during the time you have the menu system open. When you change the time with the simulation halted, the system can update to the new time and ensure the proper information is provided to the remainder of the flight simulation software, and then restart the simulation at the proper time.W. November 9, 200421 yr wsieffert - Thanks for the info! Thats interesting.... Too bad they did away with it :( it was fun clicking away at the minutes and watching the sky change colour in real-time so you could make it look *just* the way you wanted!Adjustments were so much easier that way! BTW did FS2002 allow this? (I jumped from FS2000 to FS2004)
November 9, 200421 yr Hmmm, I'm wondering how this fits in with the "As Real as it gets" slogan? Where do you draw the line on reality and ease of use of the software? :-) I'm sure there are a few pilots out there who would like to have this feature in their real plane. :(Thomas
November 10, 200421 yr Author FS2002 allowed changing the time on the panel clock.I went flying this morning and tried changing the clock in the aircraft. The clock changed but the sun and moon didn't seem to change, so I put it back to real time.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
