November 8, 200421 yr I remember I read something abotu a variable telling FS how deep the rivers cut into the scenery. Anyone? What value is god for mountainous terrain?Alex
November 8, 200421 yr The terrain.cfg contains an offset value for streams and roads.----[Texture.1024] // stream lines / unknown / perennialType=1Size=4ExcludeAutogen=1MaskClassMap=3Textures=RiverSU.bmpoffset=-10[Texture.1025] // stream lines / unknown / non-perennialType=1Size=4ExcludeAutogen=1MaskClassMap=3Textures=RiverSU.bmpoffset=-10// 1 Lane - Divided Median[Texture.1134] // concrete / 1 lane / divided medianType=2Size=4ExcludeAutogen=1MaskClassMap=1Textures=hiwaysu.bmp,hiwayhw.bmp,hiwaysu.bmp,hiwaysu.bmp,hiwaysu.bmp,hiwaylm.bmpoffset=flat----Kurt M
November 8, 200421 yr I followed a recommendation to change the "offset" from 10 to 5, and was very pleased with the results. But I was mainly interested in softening the cut through flat countryside.John
November 9, 200421 yr For excellent Rivers, there is "American Data" from http://www.fsgenesis.com Not only are the rivers in correct places, but they do not go over hills. In addition, you get Roads, Railroads, and Utilities for $14.95... And if you have USA Roads, a reduced price for the rest. Flew up the Columbia River in OR this week to the source. Finally was able to do so, as it no longer disappeared long before reaching the end. You can also follow the freeway from Portland OR, along the river or where it strays along its correct course... IFR now means I Follow Roads or Rivers.... Bob
