November 12, 200421 yr Hello fellow simmers :)Would any of you know how to delete the interior cabin views of the Meljet 777?When I press Numpad 1 & 3 I like seeing the wing-view...but on the Meljets I see a "broken" cabin (theres a big gap between the flightdeck & the cabin through which I can see the runway & the sky). Also when Im in VC mode (even though the Meljets dont have a VC) half my screen is taken up by what appears to be a cabin door (in forward view) :(I feel bad whining considering these planes are so well made and on top of that the author has made them for free....but I would *REALLY* like to see the wing-views and delete the cabin views!I searched in FS9-->Aircraft-->British Airways 777-236ER-->textureI then deleted all files whose names began with "interior" - but when I tested the results the cabin was still there - but stripped of all colours. This means that the cabin interior itself is located somewhere else.Could someone help :)Thanx!!!!!!!!!!
November 12, 200421 yr Cabin interiors are located in the MDL files--you can't delete them without access to the source that made the MDL file. Deleting the textures will do just that--turn the part into something that's rather "featureless"There is a trick however which I've used--with some success, that may work.If the designer of the aircraft didn't designate the interior as a "reflective" part, it may be possible to assign an alpha channel, assign the color black to it, which essentially would make the part transparent. It doesn't work all the time, I'm sorry to say. It really depends on the model. The other alternative is setting up various eyepoints that are just outside of the virtual cabin. This is done through the panel.cfg... There's several posts in the forums on the subject that can walk you through how to set up such viewpoints..-John
November 12, 200421 yr The Meljet 777 was a GMAX model. He's referring to a means of eliminating the virtual cabin, since it blocks the views from certain angles.-John
November 12, 200421 yr Thanks to you all for your input. I had no idea the interior references were over there! Thats interesting. I havent tweaked planes in this manner so after I've backed things up I shall print out your adivce and have a go at it! However....I discovered something interesting: not *all* Meljet 777s show this problem. I downloaded different version of the 777 (-200, -300) with different engine combos and they dont exhibit this problem (the floating cabin is still there but I can see the leading edge of the wings!)Im hoping Meljet will do with their cabin interiors what Posky does with its VC & wing-view: gives you the choice of using/not using either :)Until then I shall have to stick to the Varig, Cathay Pacific & Ana 777s as they dont have floating cabins !:)
November 12, 200421 yr Nevin, open the aircraft cfg. scroll down to views, eyepoint, and alter the first No. from 90 to 96. This will allow to to look left and right unhindered. If you want wing views, the Ultimate Wingviews for Mels 777 can be downloaded here at Avsim. Very easy to install.Russell.
November 12, 200421 yr Russell - thanks for those suggestions, I dived right in and did what you said...but no luck! :( Oh no...too bad cuz that sounded like it would work!Have a look at the picture attached to this reply...
