Any conflicting problems with FS9.1

Featured Replies

I just patched my FS9 with the update 9.1 and I am seeing that my Simulator is slower that before. I did a defrag, etc but no change.Has anybody experience something like this.Is it possible touninstalled 9.1 without reinstalling everything?Your help would be apprecitedEdmundo Cardenas SVMI

Yes, you can uninstall the update. Search your Flight Simulator 9 folder for FS9UpdateUninstall.exe. Double-click this file and the update uninstall will begin. Delete the Flight Simulator 9BACKUP folder in its entirety after you uninstall. However, prior to uninstalling rename the display.cfg file in the Flight Simulator 9 folder to display.NEW. Open the BACKUP folder, make a copy of display.xxx.cfg and paste the copy in the Flight Simulator 9 folder. Rename display.xxx.cfg to display.cfg. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem is corrected. If so, you can continue to use the old display.cfg file or determine the differences between the old and new files. If the problem isn't corrected, delete display.cfg and rename display.NEW to display.cfg.You might also rename fs9.cfg to FS9.OLD. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem is corrected. If not, delete the new fs9.cfg and rename FS9.OLD to fs9.cfg.W. Sieffert

I did a defrag, etc but no change.IF you are using XP, without SP2, installing it will give you a frame rate boost. The patch was undoubtedly created, with SP2 installed. If not using XP, by all means upgrade, there are too many reasons to do so, to enumerate. If this is not the problem, google for "RegCleaner" and set the "Options, Registry Cleanup, Method" to Automatic. Then, click on "Tools, Registry Cleanup, Do them all." This will delete all invalid registry keys, etc. First time I ran it, it deleted 287! Each time you add or delete something from your HD, it can leave an invalid link. Even something as simple as a picture you no longer want. Over time, they can slow your system to a crawl. I run it each day after deleting anything, and even find if deleted from Control, Remove Software, the majority of the time it leaves links to what was deleted. Many software demo's or payways which gives you a free trial, leave links in the registry, to prevent you from using it over, and over. They also even leave folders with junk in them. You can get RegCleaner free, I've used it with W98, ME, XP, and I'd not do without it after using it. It makes the operating system work the way it should. Bob
