September 16, 201312 yr I am an avid user of Google Earth to see my projected flightplan before, during, and after my flights. I try to match flightpaths shown on flightaware, and one of the ways I can do this is by retrieving the .kml file from their web page. I can often see shortcuts or deviations from the filed plan right on the map, and I like to make notes of which waypoints to bypass. I have an overlay of the ground based navaids used worldwide (VORs, NDBs), but I cannot find a file that represents named waypoints, such as those used in RNAV procedures. See this screen capture below, it shows a star approach into KATL, with ground based navaids superimposed. It would be nice to have waypoints because it would help in my visual analysis. For instance, in this screen I am able to see the flight, Delta 7 from OMDB, bypasses two VORs in the published DIRTY STAR: SPA and ODF. Easy to see the missed VORs, but what about the skipped waypoints? This file has to be out there somewhere, since Google Earth is so ubiquitous, and I have found all manner of overlays for the application, just not this one! Anyone happen to know if I can get such a file? A.J. Domingo
