September 27, 201312 yr I was climbing through a cloud layer the other day. TAT was something around 0-4C. I didn't pay too much attention to it because 1: the 777 has auto anti ice and 2: there's no such thing as ice in FSX anyway! Normally, in the NGX, I'd just roll my eyes at FSX's weather and "turn on" anti ice anyway because I'm supposed to. Then, after just spending a few seconds in the cloud layers, to my surprise, the EICAS now indicates "EAI". WHAT?! And as I leave the cloud layer, "EAI" is turned off automatically. WOW! I can hardly believe what I just saw. The same thing happened when I was descending through another cloud layer, and the TAT was just right for icing. "EAI" came on, engines spooled up slightly from flight idle. Then "EAI" went off, engines spooled back down when I'm under the clouds. Wow. Congrats, PMDG. This ice detection system really is there, and it's awesome.
