December 2, 200421 yr I've had something weird happen to my FS2004 install. I cleaned a bunch of old files out of my My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder recently, and now whenever I hit "Select a Flight," FS2004 locks. The CPU usage pegs at 100% and it hangs, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up Task Manager and kill it. I can do the usual "Create a Flight" just fine, and it flies without difficulty, but even if I save a flight and then try to use "Select a Flight" to pick it from the menu, FS2004 goes splat. I haven't messed with my FS2004 Flights folder at all. I have a few .FLT and .WX files in the folder, along with a bunch of .PLN flightplan files and that's it. Any ideas? I guess I deleted something I shouldn't have, but I can't figure out what...I even restored what I deleted, from the Recycle Bin, and it's still locking up.Lewis "Moose" GregoryColumbia, South Carolina Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
December 2, 200421 yr Hi there. I just looked at the set-up and as well as Flight Sim files in My Docs there is also My Flights and I wonder if flights you set up are held there and in the Flight Sim files as well, so if you delete files from one you leave only half the info necessary. It's at times like this I wish I knew more stuff:-roll
December 2, 200421 yr Lewis, one of your flt files is corrupted. Move all files from the folder to another place and see if the problem goes away. After that you can copy them back one by one. It is likely that FS crashed while saving a flt file, for example the previous flight. Don't worry this can be solved easily.Alex
December 2, 200421 yr That fixed it, thanks! I guess one of my "autosave" flights must've gotten messed up somehow...I had a couple of hard lockups with my machine last week (as in, FS2004 didn't just lockup, the whole machine froze) and one of those probably garbaged a flight.Lewis "Moose" GregoryColumbia, South Carolina Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
