Speed UP 0.7 Any Experience Using this Beta software?...

Featured Replies

I noted in Avsim a program "Speed Up 0.7" by Henning Schaefar. This is a Beta program. Does anyone have any experience using this progragm? It supposidly will increase the fps by 30%+ by closing down unecessary programs running in the background, and hyping up the RAM used to run FS9.Since this program is in its Beta stage I want to know if anyone has tried it, and their opinion.Thank you.Stanner

Just go to www.blackviper.com and follow the instructions on settingup a second boot profile for gaming.. It works and only costs your time.

Hi,Name is Tom. I'm relatively new to FS2004 and computers in general. I am interested in in what you said regarding the "Black Viper" web site. I went there and looked for a gaming boot profile but was not able to find it.:-hmmm Would you be kind enough to help a :-newbie and indicate how I can locate this "gaming profile." Thanks.Tom:-)

Tom,no experience. I also use blackviper's dual boot configuration as it is the cleanest solution to enable/disable services. However if you are a newbee I would not recomend to patch around in the registry or play with the services. You can mess things up to an awful extent. But....it's your choice. What Windows installation are you running? What Service Packs do you have installed if any? The reg files are only available for SP1. If you use an installation with SP2 you have to configure the Services manually. Alex

While it's true that Black vipers site also offers info on how to configure XP SP2, if you're a beginner I would recommend you try Ken Salters FSAutostart, available here in the file library. It's very effiicient, easy to understand, and idiotproof. If you make a mistake and close too many things down, you just need to reboot and it's all there again. Nearly all of the services are explained with tooltip popups, check it out!BestGrahame (EDHL)

So, has anyone tried Speed Up 0.7?

LOL, good question, Edam.I installed it, took one look at it and said, "What will this (currently) do for me that Ken's FSAutostart doesn't"?I uninstalled it . . .Wilson

Thanks, I have FSAutostart, and I will stick with it.Stanner
