December 4, 200421 yr I noticed at PADQ there is no taxiway to the beginning of the runway. Just wondering if there is away to modify it via AFCAD2, etc. Unless this is the way it is?Barry
December 4, 200421 yr Tho I am not familiar with this field I expect that this is the way it is - you would be cleared to enter the runway and backtrack - turning in the turning circle ( the wide bit ) at the end.Dave
December 4, 200421 yr Author Except for runways 7, 11, and 36, the other runways have taxiways to their thresholds. December 5, 200421 yr Thanks John...Interesting.. So I guess you just head up the runway, and then hang a U turn via the run up areas. Looking at the obstacles (mountains / hills) at the end of 29, I would want to use the whole runway on that take off. Thanks again for the info and diagram!Barry
December 5, 200421 yr Author You can, it's known as a back taxi and you'd do exactly that, hang a U-ey after you taxied to the end. The elliptical markings on runway 29 denote a displaced threshhold so you can't touch down on that section beyond those markers since it isn't designed to take the impacts of a landing but can be used for the take-off roll and the landing roll. There are most likely departure proceedures for that airport too that you'd want to use at night or in IMC because of those mountains and obstacles.----------------------------------------------------------------John S.
