Where to Start?

Hello fellow PC enthusiasts and simmers! I have some questions and would really love some volunteered answers from those more experienced than I.

I'm a returning military pilot, have been out of the flight deck for some 12 years now looking to return and have some things to work on and trying to do so cost efficiently.  I'm hoping to add a Sim to my arsenal of training options with some specific goals and wondered where you would suggest I'd start.

I need to do an IPC in a Diamond DA40 on G1000 glass. After that's accomplished, I need to eventually get to ATP flight schools and add my MEL ATP rating in a Piper Seneca II on steam gauges.

Any recommended sim/3PD that will cost effectively help me learn the G1000 usage and get my instrument scan back to ATP standards before I take these practical tests? I'd go Prepar3d 2.0 if it was out with an eye toward the future if it was out, but I'm stuck waiting at the moment and need to move forward.
