December 4, 200421 yr I have a weird situation in FS9 that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.Most of the time I get decent frame rates, but as the flight goes on, I sometimes begin to get pretty bad stuttering.. It happens when switching views and when rotating the outside view..I did all kinds of changes and finally I unchecked the "Render to texture" box in the hardware section. Well, initially this fixed it and I immediately saw an increase in frame rates and no stuttering..so I finished my flight, and exited. The next time I flew FS9, I began to develop the same problem and I thought maybe somehow this "render to texture" somehow checked, so I went to see it and lo and behold it was still unchecked.. So I proceeded to check it, and once again I got great frame rates and the stuttering went away..SO it appears that if I go in and toggle this, it fixes my problem temporarilly.. Anyone have any idea why this would happen? I remember reading somewhere that I needed that checked if I used the special low res clouds..I currently have all my clouds set to NOT the detailed clouds as this gives me the best frame rates I can get... all my other settings are pretty high and I'm happy with all other aspects.I use windows xp with sp2 (I did notice a slowdown in performance of FS9 since going to SP2 but that's another story)I guess I'm just looking for a technical explanation of what the render to texture does, if it should be on or off, and if it's possible that just "toggling" it from one setting to another can have the effect I get.Sorry for taking up so much space :(Jeff Scharpf
