Does FS9 run on an Apple Computer??

Featured Replies

Hi,i was wondering if FS9 would run on an Apple G5 computer? I know, it has no Windows, but i heard there is kinda Windows emulation. If it does run, is the performance good?Thank you and cheers,Michael

Hi Michael,Windows can be emulated on the mac with VirtualPC (originally by Connectix, but now bought, further developed and published by Microsoft). However, it's highly unlikely that FS9 would run on it in a playable fashion, even on the most powerful G5 and with all sliders to the left and minimal settings. FS9 is very CPU intensive, and even all but the most powerful PC's can't run it without turning down some settings.I'm a mac user myself. A few years ago I tried to run FS98 with VirtualPC on a mac G4. It was a slide show (you'd have to talk about frames per minute), completely unplayable. I ended up buying a PC for flight simming, while using the mac for the 'more serious stuff'.Paul

yah, I heard the PC emulator runs at the equivalent speed of about a 400MHz P2 on a dual G5...
