Looking for certain european ground textures... HELP

Featured Replies

hello to all simmers,i'm looking for ground textures for europe (especially germany), i use to have on my FS2002 a long time ago. i can't remember how they were called, or if i bought them, cause i haven't had a computer for almost one year, and gave away all my fs stuff.i think it was freeware, and i don't know if they work in FS2004, but they had this great effect: the groud was more realsitic concerning the amount & position of forrests, fields, cities and water.i remember, that the sourrounding area of EDDM was really realistic, not like the default scenery, wehere too much forrest is shown. i hope you know what i mean...i don't know weather this is called "landclass", "mesh" or just a bgl-update, but can anyone help me?thanks for any hints, stu

I may be able to at least steer you in the right direction - Since you want to change the type of landscape (less forest around EDDM), what you need is Landclass. Replacement textures would not change the actual landscape "layout", only the appearance - e.g. you'd still get too much forest around EDDM but the forest would look more realistic :)There is a payware set called Myworld Landclass which contanins replacement landclass for the entire world. I checked it out over my home town in Sweden and it does look a little better than default but still far from perfect.

thanks!well, that infact is a direction i can head to. i've always thought textures were the key, but it's of course logical that they wouldn't change the arrangement of areas (the right combination of landclass and textures would be even better).i'll have a look at Myworld Landclass. greetsstu

Hello Stu,I think you are looking for Olli's landclass files which are at least freeware and cover most parts of Germany. The files are compatible with either FS2002 or FS2004.His homepage is unfortunately only in german, but at the bottom of the page on the righthand side is the landclass for Bayern - Bavaria, which also covers Munich and its airport EDDM.[link]http://hometown.aol.de/FrankBarFri/OllisFsDesign.htm[/link]I hope those are the files you are looking for!Have fun!

Just a thought Stu but did you have the European texture set uploaded by Lennart? These wre a great improvement on the default FS2002 textures.Good news is that he is working on a new FS2004 set - which may be out before Christmas..boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
