eDimensional 3D Glasses and lights

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone, I have a couple of questions regarding the eDimensional 3D glasses..When using the glasses, is there any way to get lights to appear in their correct 3D locations in the FS2004 world without turning off Transform&Lighting?Turning off T&L works, except I lose about 20fps and get quite a bit of 'tearing' (bits of runway go missing, strange lines appearing and the like!!)So for me, turning off T&L isn't worth it (unless drivers are at fault etc)..I'd love to find a solution, because it's hard not to go cross-eyed when attempting a night landing!! (what with 2 sets of runway lights, neither of which actually line up with the runway!)Is there such a thing as '3D lights' which would replace the existing lights?Hope someone can help, otherwise I'll forever be a daytime-only flyer!-Michael

Nope T&l off for me during night. You may turn down on hardware lights see if that helps. Otherwise lights are handled as 2D sources so no work around sadly.

Oh well, looks like I'll be flicking T&L off before take-off & landings at night... Thanks for your help, I'll give the hardware lights thing a try..-Michael

That or hit CTRL-T to disable stereo3d :) I know it sucks to do that but it works ;)

I just tried disabling T&L and turning down the hardware lights, it was faster, but seeing all these weird artifacts (like 'extra' taxi-way lines only visible to one eye) made it not worth the benefit (at least on take-off, on landing perhaps I won't notice until I'm on the ground)My other thought (besides your idea of just turning it off all together) is to knock back the 3D effect to a few notches above 0% (say 5%) just enough that it looks 3D-ish, but not enough that you notice the lights floating in the air.. :-)-Michael

Greetings Michael! The same disappointing issue crops up with (quite expensive!) add-ons, like "Venice" from Lago: the stuff swims all over the place. In fact with ALL third party scenery add-ons I've tried. Lago reacted particularly nasty when I emailed them with a question about the matter: "We make add-ons for MSFS, not for the hardware you add to it" or words to that extend. It's sad: there are many cities, airports, landscapes and such that I would like to add, but their manufacturers apparently are unable to create them in 3D. Well... maybe for FS10? There's always hope!Jaap Verduijn.

That's dissapointing, I think I'll steer clear of such add-ons unless I'm sure they will work.. (I see no reason to pay good money for something that developers have cut corners on) I just got ActiveSky, which is an awesome add-on, except the Radar won't work in 3D, so part of my reason for buying it is sadly of no use to me..(but the rest of it is working fine, so I'll live).I'm with you, bring on FS10.. :-) -Michael

Thanks for the tip, I will have a good read through that thread and see if they've found a solution..Thanks again,-Michael
