November 9, 201312 yr Greetings; New user of OPUS Weather coming over from Active Sky 2012. I am very impressed so far with OPUS. How many weather layers does/can OPUS Weather use ? I realize that the number of layers is not alterable with the exception of a METAR.. Thank you, WilloW WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member Many thanks for the comments. The Opus LWE supports an unlimited number of cloud layers, as many layers as are needed to depict the RW weather. Other layering such as winds and temperature layers far exceed the capabilities within the sim, internally such parameters are maintained for every 500 foot layer from the ground up, but the LWE can extrapolate date for any altitude and geographic position as accurately as it needs at the time. Such data is used for determining turbulence parameters in real time for instance. But the general answer is unlimited layering and resolution. Stephen
November 9, 201312 yr Author Thank you Stephen for the prompt reply. I'd like to suggest an improvement/idea. Is it possible to have a notification line on the FSX screen when the weather is updating (WEATHER UPDATING....). I am using the client to inject/update weather and it would be good to know if the update is operating OK. Perhaps the feature can be enabled/disabled somewhere in the setup allowing users who don't want this feature to turn it off. Thanks, WilloW WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member You can see the time update on the title line of the weather maps and within the text reports (which can also be displayed on the client). Also if you have a weather report window displayed on the server then the time will update there too. Cheryl
November 9, 201312 yr Author Thanks Cheryl. What I was referring to was an active "live" notification line on the main FSX screen. Something that was automatic and you saw as the weather updated. The notification needs only to be visible for the duration of the update then it automatically turns off. This suggestion mimics what some other programs do when an updates occurs.
