December 16, 200421 yr HiDont know if this is normal, but why do Ai planes (installed via the PAI installer) that are issued the command by ATC to HOLD SHORT OF RUNWAY XX just briefly hold and then just takeoff without getting clearance to takeoff.Any ideas ?Thanks
December 16, 200421 yr I doubt this has anything to do with a difference between PAI and any other flight plans, I understand the plans have to be a certain format to work. I have noticed whilst sitting on the runway while testing my own plane and panel set ups that the AI planes will not take off until I leave the runway.
December 16, 200421 yr Same here, they just sit and wait patiently... except when I'm repainting and sit there too long. Then they have a tendency to just vanish into thin air! Whoops. Must learn to clear the runway. ;-) :-shy Ian P.
December 16, 200421 yr hi,i use project ai and have not had this problem.did you use ttools to re-compile the ai files? not doing this could potentially cause ms atc not to recognize the the planes, so they just go on their merry way. i think pai's website has an explanation of this somewhere.

December 16, 200421 yr Author Hi,The probable cause is that you are tuned to the Ground channel (when they are told to taxi to runway X and hold short). Then once they arrive at the runway they *change frequency* to the tower frequency, and ask permission to take off. You can't hear this because you are still on the Ground frequency. They get permission immediately and take off.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
December 16, 200421 yr AH HA !!!!!!That is it......i'm planespotting and obviously tuned to ground !That makes sense now !!!Thanks !
December 17, 200421 yr Author Hi,Glad to help. Many radios allow you to have both COM1 and COM2 turned on at the same time (turn on the green light for both of them, or press the BOTH button), and you can have one tuned to Ground and the other to the Tower frequency (look in Map View for the relevant frequencies).Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
