Help with add on scenery. Desperate!

Featured Replies

Hello,I'm having issues with two add on scenery packages that I downloaded from AVSIM. I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is anything I messed up! I'm using FS9 with PAI add ons. I have no other problems with other add on airport scenery that I've used. The two files are :MKE2004.ZIP (Milwaukee KMKE)KDTW51.ZIP (Detroit KDTW)In both cases, the scenery appears to be "shifted". All the planes taxi and takeoff about 50 feet from the runway. The parked aircraft are all sitting in the correct pattern but shifted by the same amount. When I remove the scenery everything lines back up again, but I lose the gates and the nice scenery. (Which is very nice in both cases!)Is there something I can do? I've followed the instructions carefully, I've un-installed and re-installed the scenery. I've un-installed FS9 thinking something got messed up, started all over again, and it's the same. I don't think I've seen this with other airports that I've added (Unless I just didn't notice it, I'm not sure).help!!!!P.S. Forgot to mention that I set the priority to number 1, and didn't make a difference. Thanks!Jeff

Jeff, it just sounds like you need a matching AFCAD2 file for those add-ons. Usually airport scenery will provide one, but do a looksy around for any AFCADs designed to work with those airport.

Hi,Thanks for the response.Yes both came with AFCAD2 files. One is called AF2_KMKE.BGL the other was called AF2_KTDW2.BGLboth are in the FS9SceneryWorldScenery folder along with all the other BGL files.. Is that the correct location for these?Jeff

It should be ok with those. Just make sure you rename/delete any other third party afcads.Max.

It doesn't appear to matter what I do. Both of these scenery addons are shifted. I think maybe I'll try to re-install FS9. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. Maybe I messed something up somewhere along the line. The only other addon that I have is LOWW and it looks just fine.Anyway, Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated! :)Jeff

Try creating a separate folder called by each airport's name under the Main FS Scenery Folder. Then, under each of these 'new' folders, create a Scenery and Texture subfolder. Ensure all *.bgl files are in the respective new Scenery subfolders and the texture files go in the Texture subfolders. Once this is completed, start FS; access the Scenery Library from the opening menu, enable the new Airports; continue to let FS start up. After FS has stabalized, exit FS and then re-start the sim. Your new sceneries should display properly.Placing everything under the World Scenery folder prevents proper layering or priority, interferes with exclude files and also makes it difficult to trace scenery problems. It sounds like the default scenery is conflicting with that which you are adding on.

Thanks! That did it!I'm VERY happy now lol.It turns out that for some reason my KMKE.blg files were in the FS9SceneryWorldScenery folder along with the other traffic file. When I moved it to the scenery folder where the KMKE textures were (the addon folder) everything worked fine! This was NOT clear in the installation instructions and I don't know why.Anyway, it's fixed now so thanks again for all the help!Jeff
