It seems like the next patched version of ifly 737 will be incorporating the weather radar overlay into the 737 ND. 

 

Is it possible for other aircraft, or cockpit suites for cockpit builders (I am using the *free* Jeehell Airbus cockpit suite), to do the same?

Hi,

 

the data are provided in raw binary format (for both moisture/precipitation signals and wind shear information), using (at the moment) a specific SimConnect function. The documentation for this is included in ASN download (it should be at least). The actual imagery/interpretation of the raw binary data we provide is up to the aircraft developer.
