I set it to 2048 but 1024 also shows up. Which one of these two doesn't belong?

First guess: When you edited the entry, you deleted the "=" by accident (since it's missing in the first entry), so a new line with the default value has been created, which is now the "active" one. It should be safe to delete this entry and simply insert the "equals" sign in line 2 again.
