alchohol and fatigue were to blame... not me...

yesterday after a nice flight from PANC to KMWH I ran into a problem -

I was planning on hand flying the approach into KMWH, but the reported visibility was only 6nm, since I was tired i decided the auto pilot would be a better bet until the runway was visible.  I intercepted the glide slope in APP mode and LAND 3 annunciation showed up on the PFD, the gear was down, we were flaps 20, and doing 165kts down the glide slope. At about 7nm out, I reduced speed to Vref+ 5 (145kts). Then at 6nm out i visually acquired the runway, and that was when the problem started.  I wanted to takeover from the autopilot and manually land, so I hit the throttle switch to disengage the autothrottle.  As I headed toward the runway threshold i seemed to be fighting to stay on the g/s and I couldn't figure out why. After landing and slowing to 60knts, i began manually braking and disengaged the autobrakes, as i slowed to 10kts to turn off the runway, i accidentally hit the TOGA switch on the throttle, the GE90s kicked in, the 777 surged across the taxiway and the pilot of the Cessna 172 sitting on the taxiway ahead had no idea what hit him.  Looking back, i realized that i only disengaged the autothrottle on approach, i completely forgot to disengage the autopilot.  Thus ended my career as a 777 captain, i am now a guest of the federal government and my new career is making license plates for $0.25/hour.

but it wasn't my fault your honor it was the booze :P
