January 4, 200521 yr Author >What is it exactly? For simplicities sake I will spare you the details of this type of approach which are not a concern to MSFS.This is a non-precission approach in which you use the GPS as the navigation instrument. You will set the proceedure in your GPS and either "Load" it into the flight plan where it should become active once reaching the initial approach fix (IAF), or you can "Activate" the approach at which point it will immediately take you direct to the IAF to start the approach. It has no vertical guidance, barring WAAS certified GPSs which are just now coming into the market, so you will want the approach plate in front of you so you can see the altitude restrictions from fix to fix, and the eventual Minimum Decent Altitude at which you do not descend below it until you have the runway environment in sight. Here's the applicable FARs for that: John Morgan "There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have. No matter what the name of the country on whose land it lies, an airport is a place you can see and touch that leads to a reality that can only be thought and felt." - The Bridge Across Forever: A Love Story by Richard Bach
