January 6, 200521 yr BobI use active sky as well and the combination of Chris Willis and the offering from Active Sky have especially increased the visual feast. But they can only work with whats there and with all the will in the world cannot for example model a thunderstorm and all it bits and pieces in an accurate way.Peter

January 6, 200521 yr DanI think you have to look back through the history of MSFS to see why weather and the sky we fly in hasnt really figured up until recent times.Through the earlier versions more emphasis was placed on the creativity of the sim and this revolved around aircraft and terrain as well as airport invironment.Because of the old story of framerates there was little attention to the sky until Fly!, pro pilot and FU3 came into the picture and forced MSFS to look at the medium we actually operate in.Really the creators of FU3 were miles ahead of their time and proof that a living dynamic weather system was achievable.Visually no but I can well remember a night departure in the beech jet which was so real. That was the only sim where landing the Beech jet reminded me of landing a real biz jet.Taking off on that night the cells showed up beautifully on the weather radar. You operated engine anti ice and approaching the cells you got that familiar gentle judder of angry air.Run into one and all hell let loose.Fly the gliders and you could ridge soar or see the vsi climbing with mountain wave.Going back to MSFS the problem has always been its creativity which has demanded heavely on Graphics.add beautiful clouds and something had to give and remember the sky had always been an afterthought.I can remember so many arguement in these forums where people wanted more and more ground detail and didnt care about the sky.Now that has changed as people realise that the clouds can offer better scenery than anything on the ground. As to your final question I fly from EGCW, EGNR, EGBJ as my main points but many others as freelancePeter
January 6, 200521 yr " because at the end of the day FS is a "game", not a matter of life and death"I'm not too sure about that! I have never been married and see what happens to everyone else around me for the last 36 years and I could swear that most married people would say the opposite! :-lolCarmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
January 7, 200521 yr Peter, do you have any more of those excellent in-cockpit photos? If so, are they available online anywhere? I love stuff like that.
