"Hello ... here come the Red Arrows"

Recommended Posts

Couldn't resist posting this little beauty ... had me in stitches, but maybe that's just my English sense of humo(u)r.http://www.paxship.com/redspriveye.jpgStolen with no permission whatsoever from the excellent comic "Private Eye" and probably copyright of Tony Husband, the cartoonist. Oh, let them all sue. I'm having a quiet week.If anyone missed the update, I'm pleased to say all the Hewitt/Maliniemi/Virtanen/Beaumont "Red Arrows" aircraft (singles and all display teams) are now usable in FS2004. See:http://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlfor more details. Most of the files have been pulled from Avsim by Mikko Maliniemi with all other freeware work he has been involved in (don't ask, no one really knows why) but you'll find all the necessary files at Flightsim, Simviation and at the "Red Arrows" official website at:http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/downloads.htmlMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Hi Mark,I just wanted you to know that I got a little chuckle out of the comic there. I also have the Red Arrows and Saudi Hawks installed and the updates. Got them when they were available on Avsim here. Very cool planes!Cheers,Jim

Hi JimGlad to hear the Reds have a fan! The best of all the repaints, though, I have to say - and only in my humble opinion - are the single and team "Black Seahawks". They are very accurate. And if you fly them around the area where they are based for real - RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall, England - there are some great coastal low-flys in that area. When I feel like a blast, I just drop them down to 50' or 100' ASL a few hundred yards offshore and hug the coast. Awesome.Or nip over to Ireland for lunch and check out all that new Irish Design Group scenery!See more of the Seahawks at http://www.swiremariners.com/bshawks.htmlMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

That's a great cartoon, I had a good laugh when I saw it in Private Eye!I am not sure, but from what colleagues here who know the Arrows, the cartoon is not that far removed from the truth, they do actually wear their red jumpsuits everywear so that everyone knows who they are! I also know that the Reds are a fantastic advert for the UK when they are displaying, however get them within sniffing distance of alcohol and it becomes a slightly different story! :-eek And I thought I've been drunk in my time!

I don't disagree at all, they are superb at their job, there is no doubt. However, when most people get to the play hard bit, they usually aren't wearing their employer's name in big letters on their front!

Yep, and you don't usually get to use your employers' transport either!Although the Arrows now have private sponsored transport....:-wavePete
