A friend has asked me what the following term means. "below the line" when is to comes doing a check list?I hope someone out there can help us with the answer.ThanksTerry

Hello Terry,On some checklists there is "a line" where the checklist may not be continued until a certain perameter has been met.Eg below is a before takeoff checklist for the 777Flight Controls - CheckedTransponder - SetFinal Loadsheet - ReceivedFlaps - ___Vital Data - SetTrim - ____Units & ZeroCabin Report - Received--------Entering Runway-----Exterior Lights - As RequiredCabin Crew - SignalSo in this example the captain would ask for the checklist to the line as they were taxiing out to the runway. As the aircraft entered the runway the pilot would ask for the rest of the checklist.Another example is (once again 777 this time before start)Inspection & Security - CompletedOxygen - Checked/100%Instruments - CHeckedQNH - Set & CrosscheckedAutobrake - RTOParking Brake - SetFuel Control Switches - CutoffBriefing - Complete------LOADSHEET------Fuel - SetFMC - LoadedThrust - SetSpeeds - SetLNAV/VNAV - SetHope that explains it when the pilot asks for the checklist below the line ;)------------Best RegardsTriple7

Triple7,Thanks for the explanation and expamples. I am use to military fighter type checklist when I worked in the F-4E and F-111D flight simulators. All we had were "power off" "before engine start" "after engine start" and so on. In those checklists there was no real need to put a line to stop the checklist.Sim-u-lator,Terry
