R C panel on the screen but not activated

Recommended Posts

Can't understand this.  I used RC for a long time but though I kept it on my computer along with the rest of my FSX I went away from simming for some months to do other things.

Now I find I can get RC on to the flight screen but no matter how many times I punch '4' on the keyboard for clearance I get no reaction from it at all.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

Thanks.

John

Make sure your cockpit view window is in focus (hot), not the RC/FSUIPC window by clicking anywhere on the cockpit view except the RC window.. Be sure you have updated fsuipc and makerwys from the pinned topic paths. I don't know how long you've been away. Your RC menu should be a blue windows standard format, not the green solid window.

You also need to insure that you do not have have any gauge or app running that would "steal" keystrokes from RC. An example might be a feature on an CDU/FMC keypad gauge which if left enabled to use your PC keyboard would intercept keystrokes that would go to RC.

Is it only the 4 key or is it any key that is not working. If it is a particular key you might have a key assignment conflict.

Also bring up the keyboard assignment window in RC to verify your settings. The manual stated defaults are not quite the same.

Thanks for your reply Ron.

I should have said.

The RC panel is blue as it should be. None of the keys work but it was the '4' that sparked off the question because that is assigned to get clearance and start a flight.

I have checked and know my fsuipc is up to date but I'm making the other checks you've suggested and will come back if I don't have any success.

All the best.

John

You have clicked outside of the blue RC window, correct? Are you using the the alpha numeric number keys and not the number pad?

Try just a flight with a default aircraft and only RC working.
